Digital SLR Photography for Beginners
8 Weeks

This course is an introduction to the basic technical and creative techniques essential to digital photography. Students will develop an understanding of basic camera functions and creative considerations in photography.

Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of the exposure triangle; shutter duration, aperture and ISO and how these three variables work together to create an image. Students will be encouraged to control these variables in order to achieve desired creative effects, and to consider how to use the camera as a means of artistic expression.

Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of composition, elements of design, and how to work with available light.  

Photo Image Transfers
4 Weeks

Learn how to turn your digital photographs into works of art that you can hang on your wall!

This course is an introduction to image transfer techniques using laser prints, inkjet prints, and photocopies of photographs. You will learn how to transfer your images onto various substrates (canvas, wood, paper) and use a variety of painting, layering and stamping techniques to work your transferred images into mixed-media masterpieces. Students will be shown examples of different techniques and finished art in order to develop creative ideas of their own. No prior experience with painting required – just creativity and a willingness to have fun!
